FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Aspen Farms Horse Trials and Area VII Championships will proceed as scheduled this Friday, September 8th through Sunday, September 10th. The show organizers and officials have been monitoring and reviewing the conditions given the haze from wildfires burning elsewhere in the state and beyond, and they have determined to proceed as scheduled.

As of today, Yelm, WA is not as directly impacted by smoke as other areas north or east and visible ash is not currently falling at Aspen Farms. AIRNow, published by the Environmental Protection Agency, currently lists the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Yelm as Moderate. The Air Quality Index does not indicate hazardous levels in Yelm, WA, though AIRNow notes “Unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.” Additionally, there is a chance of rain in the forecast Friday and Saturday with a shift in the winds predicted to help move lingering smoke out of the area.

Competitors with questions about their entries are encouraged to contact the show secretary, Christina Gray, at 805-239-3930 or at the show office. Ride times for all divisions are posted online at Startbox Scoring.

The Aspen Farms show organizers and crew are committed to running a safe, successful show and are looking forward to the start of competition at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 8th. Show organizers will continue to monitor the weather and all factors and are available for feedback.
